Our Mission

We were given this mission by Jesus Christ when he commissioned all of His followers in Matthew 28:19-20.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Our mission is to go into the world around us and tell the Good News of Jesus Christ to all people. As we baptize those who believe, identifying them with God, we are then to teach them how to obey the commands of God.

PURSUING PEOPLE WITH THE PASSION OF GOD

We seek to accomplish the mission given to us by our Lord using this vision statement stated above. We know that God loves all people and wants all to come into a relationship with Him through faith in His son Jesus Christ. Therefore we encourage those who follow Jesus to build relationship bridges with people. In such relationships, life stories may be shared. It is here that God’s story intersects with our stories. It is in relationships we may understand how much God loves us. We come to understand that He desires to have a relationship with us. This is Pursuing People with the Passion of God.

THE BIG 3 MODEL

To make this attainable for our congregation we use a model we call THE BIG 3.
The three verbs in this model describe how we may build relational bridges with other people.

LEARN: We first must learn from God, through worship, teaching, Bible Study, and prayer, how He wants us to live our lives. This happens as we become involved in the program activities of the church as well as from relating with God through personal prayer, Bible reading/study. We teach the scriptures on Sunday during Worship, in small group Bible studies, and in our Children’s and Youth ministires. We also teach that our most important learning comes from our personal habits of Bible study, our personal prayer, and faithfully giving of our time and money.

INCLUDE: This verb challenges us to invite people into our lives. As we include others in the activities of our lives, we will begin to build the relational bridges necessary for others to see us as we really are. They will be able to see how the Holy Spirit makes a difference in us. To be inclusive is to be like Jesus because Jesus invited many people to be in relationship with him.

BLESS: This word expresses what we want to do for others. We want to serve others. This is not always easy to do, but it expresses the goal of God’s mission. When we serve another person, meeting their needs as we are able, we show them the love God has for them. As we serve other people we bless them. As we include others into our lives, we created relational bridges that allow them to see Jesus in us. And as we learn how God wants us to live, the Holy Spirit empowers us to pursue people with God’s passion for them. These Big 3 model express what is looks like to Pursue People with the Passion of God.
